“CYCLING OUT HOKKAIDO; NISEKO・KITA-SHIRIBESHI・TOYA”, is a cycling activity tour catering to inbound affluent tourists and will be available for a limited time from August 31st to October 20th, 2023. The tour is planned by Hokkaido Cultural Broadcasting Co., Ltd. etc. (Headquartered in Sapporo, Hokkaido, President Toru Tsurui).
The route offers tourists a rare chance to experience breathtaking scenery, fresh local foods and visit off-the-beaten-path locations all unique to Hokkaido while taking cyclists from Sapporo through the world-famous winter sports area of Niseko・Kutchan to Kita-Shiribeshi (Akaigawa, Niki, Yoichi and Otaru). The route will also include stages featured on the “Tour de Hokkaido” annual cycling race where tourists can challenge their abilities and enjoy this special adventure.
In addition, this next-generation cycling tour aims to be environmentally friendly and as carbon neutral and as possible. The tour is designed to raise environmental awareness and nurture local tourism by highlighting carbon offsetting and CO2 emitted during the tour, which supports forest carbon credits to local municipalities along the cycle route.

A support vehicle also be provided during the tour, which allows travelers to also add in other popular adventure-tourism activities into the itinerary.

Plan(5 Nights 6 Days)
DAY1 Jozankei Onsen (Hot Spa)
After arriving at New Chitose Airport, we will transfer to a bicycle shop in F-Village in Kita-Hiroshima for bicycle fitting. Then head to Jozankei Onsen (Hot Spa) to refresh and recharge.
DAY2 NISEKO area
Check-out of Jozankei Onsen, transfer to Niseko・Kutchan area by support vehicle and enjoy the cycling route from “Michinoeki Kimobetsu” to Niseko. A support vehicle will then take you to your accommodation in the Niseko-Hirafu area. Cycling route around Mt.Yotei available upon request.
DAY3 NISEKO or Lake TOYA
Visit key sightseeing spots, farms and distillery around Niseko. Take in scenic views of Mt.Yotei and extend your plan in the Lake TOYA area.
DAY4 Pass Through Akaigawa Heading to NIKI and YOICHI
Starting from Niseko you will cycle through Akaigawa, an area surrounded by rich nature and the Akaigawa Caldera while heading toward Niki and Yoichi, where you will ride along lush sprawling vineyards and orchards.
Along the route, cyclists can enjoy spectacular views of the Caldera Basin and undulating hills to each sightseeing spot. In the Niki area, forest trekking activities around the local wineries are also available.
DAY5 Head to Otaru for Marine Activities and Delicious Seafood
Enjoy cycling along the fruit orchard roads from Niki to Yoichi. You can also take part in marine sports activities such as SUP, bay cruise and eat the mouthwatering sea urchin-don in the port town of Otaru.
DAY6 To New Chitose Airport
After experiencing the nostalgic city of Otaru, transfer to New Chitose Airport.
About Niseko
The Niseko region consists of the towns Kutchan and Niseko and includes internationally famous resorts in the Hirafu, Hanazono, Higashiyama and Annupuri districts.
Niseko is a year-round tourist destination and in summer, visitors can enjoy various outdoor activities such as hiking, trekking, cycling, canoeing and rafting, golf, horseback riding, fishing, hot-air ballooning, and dog runs. The area also benefits from natural springs (23 mg/liter ultra soft water) that flows from Mount Yotei at regularly, providing cyclists with a handy way of refilling their water bottles during their adventure.
About Kita-Shiribeshi
The Kitashiribeshi region includes Otaru City, famous for its canals and seafood; the towns of Yoichi and Niki, home to vineyards and whiskey distilleries and Akaigawa Village, the location of Kiroro Resort, where tourists can experience some of Japan’s best powder snow during the winter season. Seafood, fruits, and alcohol can be found in abundance in these areas and combined with it’s scenic landscapes, Kita-Shiribeshi is a region full of natural charm that will encourage visitors to return.
Cycling all the way from the hills of Niki down to the ocean bordering Yoichi is also a popular route, taking riders through the Fruits Road and mystic Torii gates of Japanese shrines along the way.
